Like this?

It doesn't have to be this size, just the design. The customer is restoring a sewig machine and needs some of these carved. I'd hate to have to ask him to remove one so I can scan it if there is a pattern already out there somewhere.

Kevin,

If you can't find a match for the piece, you can make a casting of it in plaster of paris or acrylic that you can scan.
You can make a latex or clay mold with out removing the piece, to carve a new one.
We do it on ornate frames and antiques all the time.

Problem is he is in Georgia and I'm in Wisconsin. Wouldn't be practical to mail the whole 25+ year old sewing machine up here.

I suppose he might be able to make the casting. It's an idea if I can't find the pattern. Thanks

Oh well, it was just a thought
To bad they couldn't cast it and mail the mold to you
it would cost about a $1.50 each way. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif

Try these, I have enclosed the art work so you can make your own pattern,
If you use the jpg increace the photo 60% and convert to png, I always import the negitave into designer.

Do not have the probe yet, soon maybe.

Thanks Ray those are great.

Problem I've been having is chip out on the finer details due to the smallest carving tip is 1/16".

This is the best I've been able to get (picture is terrible) with 3-4 tries.

I'll try carving your patterns Ray and see if I get anything better.
