Anybody out there know about how long you should get out of a cutting bit if you are cutting in Oak?

I'm told that short of breaking the bit, it will outlast your use of it.

I have found carving bits leaving fuzzy leading edge areas and a new bit did not so I retired a few... 1500 hours on the bits.... Need to find a sharpening service some day.

Less than 3 cents and hour ain't bad - it's gonna be a loooonggg time before I rack up 1500 hrs on my machine (based on my current homey-do list).

I am thinking that maybe since my QC went bad that it probably messed up that bit and know that I think of it, I forgot to change the adapter on that one so I probably prematurely broke the thing.
