brass ring and O ring

Hi all, which side of the brass ring does the O ring go on? mine broke and i noticed that the brass ring has two grooves one towards the interior of the machine and one towards the key pad.
which one does the o ring go into?

You have to roll it up over the knurl into the second groove... the one closest to the keypad...
