I tried to get my machine to cut five 3/4" dados across a board. The machine cut three, no problem. (Only 3 because I stopped it). When the first dado became exposed on the machine, I test fitted a 3/4" board and found that the dado was actually 7/8", as well as the next two that were already done.
I was using the 1/8 carving bit and it made three beautiful dados, they were just 1/8" too wide.
Anyone have a guess as to why? I went ahead and scrapped the board and set up my table saw with the dado blade and made my cuts. I was just wondering why the Carvewright machine couldn't make a 3/4" wide cut.

:confused::confused:

You must take into account the bit width.... The lines you draw are in the center of the bit and 1/2 a bit on each line and you have a 1/8 inch....

For dado's I cut a test board using the bull nose bit. Made each hole slightly bigger.

Now if I need a slot or dado I use the real board to find the slot that fits than look on the .mpc and see the reading on the hole I am looking at.

Board moisture will throw the measurements off but it is in the ball park.
