What a Great Machine,

Here’s a 1” x 14” x 24” 18lb. SignFoam Carving, mounted in a 22” x 32” Shadow Box Frame,
it’s one of a few that I made for a recent Fine Arts Show at the Farmington Hills City Hall.
They all generated loads of questions and comments. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

It was a little over a 4 Hour carve at .500 and Best Setting,
Building the Shadow Box Frame, Sealing it, and Painting it was about and Hour.

All Fun work http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Fantastic! I really like to see someone using the machine to produce "artsy" items. That's what I bought my machines for in the first place - to produce original and out-of-the-ordinary artworks. Some on a rather large scale.

I've gotten sidetracked and haven't produced one single bit of the artwork I had originally envisioned, but love what I am doing anyway!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks Folks for your kind comments

It's really all of you that guide and inspire me to try new ideas.

There's a little Art in every project we do, and it's up to each of us
to dig or carve away at it, until we find it. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

That piece needs to be permanently placed in the gallery. It is a really impressive work and does an awesome job of showing your inspiration and the ability of the machine.

Ken, That is outstanding and exciting to view in amassment of your talent and what the machine can do.
Does the art have a theme or is that up to the individual.
Brilliant works and thank you for sharing.

Ken,
Exellent creativity... I really like how nicely the SignFoam carves.. it is nothing short of amazing results. Great idea framing it as art. There are certainly a lot of high end manufacturing companies that would display art like this in their lobby !!!

thanks for sharing

My thoughts behind this project were to show that something Mechanical
in appearance could be produced by our Machines
and would be seen as a piece of Art work and be displayed as such.
My plan is to explore a few more of the creative possibilities of the CW and CC Machines,
while experiment a little at the same time.

Just down right cool Ken. Something I would be interested in hanging in my Man Bathroom. Along with my cars photos. Guy thing I guess

Very nice.....lots of gears. Where's a good place, online, to buy SignFoam?

Has anyone on the forum, ever made any wooden gears with the CW?

Hey Rock,

This is the Mfg. Site where you can get a list of Distributors,
plus if you Email them, they'll send you a couple of samples you can carve in your machine. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Also there several post on the forum about folks carving sign Foam,
along with some about wooden gears with photos of them being used for Wooden Clocks.

roughcut,

I just viewed the site, and it is pretty cool. I really like the working combination lock that he had made. He had to have put a lot of thought into the design.

Great find!

Ken, Excellent piece of work. The carving is amazing!!! Not to mention the frame work is excellent. Wish i could get true miter cuts like that. I liked the dust collection hook up. Are you using the bottom port also? What CFM is i may ask? Looks pretty clean! Keep up the good work. Matt

Thanks Matt,

Miter cuts -- no problem -- over 50 years of practice.
I do use the Machines bottom slot with weather strip around it to match the slot in the top of my DD Cabinet,
the blower in the final chamber is 3 speed – 1200, 800, and 600 CFM.
I normally run it at 800 CFM, I use it to generate the negative pressure (Vacuum) to draw the air down through the machines bottom slot, plus the rear dust port and the new 4” side port all at the same time.
It’s really a powerful, but quite way to get the dust and chips out of my machine without building up any static electricity.
Best of all no more opening the lid to vacuum while the machine is carving. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif
