I was asked to make a "Welcome Home" sign and here it is. Carving into the laminated particle board was so easy and only a tiny bit of chipping. Painting was even easier as I could wipe off paint that did not stay in the boarders! (Yeah, I failed that in 1st grade too) LOL

Audie, that's Very Nice!

Tom, your box looks nice too - I like the marbelized effect - I used to do a lot of that myself.

Your pictures are very blurry and hard to see your wonderful work. Try setting your camera in a "close-up" mode to improve the focus for your project photos.

I wish I could get a finished product to look that good. What font are you using and I assume it is centerline. I cannot get as smooth a font as you have gotten.

jspringertx,

I used the MS SHELLDIG font with centerline. The acrylic paints are Metallic Gold for the lettering and for the background which the picture does not do justice I applied a very light coat of Mars Black, kind of in a swirling pattern then I applied a coat of Metallic Pearl White. I has a shiney pewter look to it. The painting time took about two hours. Today I am sealing the carving with Miniwax. I've attched the file if you care to play with it. And the laminate board was some left overs I had from some packaged cabinets.

This is a project I made for my brother in-law for Christmas. The outside shape was modeled off the old gas pumps at least that was the idea. Model A's had 12 spoke wheels so the clock was supposed to look like a wheel. I wanted him to be able to hang the clock, so the litho couldn't be to deep(1 1/2 depth), so I used led lights around the edge, I like the way the lighting turned out.
The picture is of his car in front of the original Ford Factory, his club drove their cars from Wisconsin to the Factory. Had fun doing this one.

after a year and a half of having the cc i Finlay made something for my self .
Table Top is made from pine and the frame is made from some old 2x4's and is finnished with several coats of bar coat .
Legs are made from old 2x4's with scrap pine to give the thickness i was looking for .
Sides are made from pine .
legs and side are finished with 3 coats of polycrilic . the stain is red mahogany

Very nice Tom, I have wanted to experiment with bar coat myself. Its a little hard to tell from the pics, but i imagine it emphasizes the carving depth a lot.

Thanks for sharing!
