I did a search but with 270 hits, it was a bit daunting to go through all the post, plus I have read this site almost everyday and don't think I have seen this posted.
So does anyone know the size of th O ring on the Brass Roller (Board Tracking sensor)
I carved a board the other day, first in about 3 months, and noticed mine is worn and cracked.
I know I could order it from LHR but we have a large collection here at work and figured if I know the size I could aquire some spares. ;)
Thanks in advance for any help.

The parts manual doesn't list a size (at least that I could find.

Hi....try a 7/16" O-ring. As suggested by hotpop 4/1/2008 ... in this "Maintenance and Repair List.

Thanks Mike, I also couldn't find a size in the manual either

Thanks SharonB for the size, either my memory failed or I never saw Hotpop's guide. I'll have to go looking.

Yes, it's just a 7/16" O-Ring. Any hardware store will have it. Might help to take the old one in with you to compare to the new one.

I would recommend doing the alignment after changing the O ring since it could be metric and smaller. Like putting 16 inch tires on your car where there were metric or 14 inch tires. The Speedometer could be off. Yes Officer it looked like I was doing 55 not 75.... Want a Donut?.... How about a Trunk Monkey?....

Just my 2 cents.... You might never see the difference but with small letters you might.

As measured from my machine. .328 Id. (this allows for ten% strech) .070" width. Type Nitrile General Purpose. OR 8.35mm Dia. 1.78mm width. Width meaning cross section of the o-ring.

a 7/16 od will work as long as the width is .070".

Ref part # 108 page 6 Dim. not called out for this part

Cal date 08 07 St. Digital vainer calpier.

Hope this helps

forqnc,

I saw your post about the size of the O Ring on the brass tracking sensor. And the all the replies you received.
It sounded like a good idea to add a few extra O Rings to my Parts Kit for my Machine just in case I need one in the future.
I called one of my Suppliers and gave the size the young lady that wrote up my order,
She said they come in a small plastic bag and that one of their drivers was going past my shop today and would drop them off.
I was busy on the phone about noon when the driver stopped by to deliver the O Rings,
So I told one of my sons to go out to the shop to measure one to make sure they were the right size.
It was ---- all of them are!! ----- I figure it was the small plastic bag that's the wrong size. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/icons/icon11.gif

The O-Ring on my machine went MIA. I went to the Ace Hardware and found a faucet O-Ring with the following dimensions: 7/16" O.D x 5/16" I.D. I measured the width when I got home and was exactly .070" width. Unlike Ken's, my plastic bag was small and it only had one in it. It about broke me though - it cost me $0.59. (I bought 2 bags of them. LOL) Time permitting tomorrow, I will put it on and then run through a calibration cycle. I will post additional comments after I accomplish this task.
