Here is my indian, I carved it on 1/2 of a birch log.

Hmmm yes please share.. I too would like to know how that is done.. Thats a cool piece of birch it looks cherry on the inside..

It is much easier than it looks. I measured the log to find the area that was the flattest and made the indian that size. I set the carving depth to .800 to get the max carve depth and then set it up in a sled. Because it is from a log it is not completely level so I shimmed the low end to get it as level as possible. I set the log in the center of the sled and told the machine to center the carve, then I stood back and crossed my fingers.
