The probe manual says the height limitation for an object to scan is 1”. Can you fool it is the question.

For example, and just an example, scanning a hammer which laid flat is say
1 1/4” high. So when the machine goes in to a homing position and asks for the starting point of the scan, could I place a ¾” thick board at that point and let it touch down and then do likewise at the other end of the scan project.

If my assumption is correct the scan will start ¾” above the sled and scan the hammer with a ¼” to spare with regards to the height limitation.

Guess I could try it if no one else has but that’s the purpose of this forum – to learn from others.

Actually, set up the start and finish corners then when it says

1) Proceed with scan

use the arrow keys and go to

3) Set max depth

and have it touch the 3/4" board (or whatever depth you want to set).

After I read about the options of setting the depth limitation, and I thank you for that info, I said this is the stuff they should put in the manual. Well duh, excuse me, there it was right in the manual.

And I criticize my family members for not reading operating manuals. Good thing they don't frequent this forum.
