This is the largest of 4 similar orders. We had a six week deadline and finished with 5 days to spare! The customers are happy with the project and excited to hand them out.

Wow really nice Terry. Like the arrangement on them and the gold/black plate really sets them off. Stain and finish look great. When do you have mine being shipped for the my pond? (Most tore up) haha. Or my new koi, most spoiled.

Thanks guys.

Al, they were carved from a single piece of 4/4 cherry, using 3 seperate patterns on each, Four different sizes of two different styles with seven different types of fish.

Michael, thanks. Although I have several patterns of koi and goldfish that I have made myself, none were quite good enough for this project. Thanks for the high quality patterns.

Several of the patterns were custom made by go3d.us, thanks HT.

When you need the absolute best these guys can do it.

SandBuoy, did you go to the Portland Koi Show last week? We are usually there but didn't make it this year.

Terry,

The plaques look like a million bucks. Isn't it great to have such a great resource for patterns?

Thanks for sharing this great project!!

Terry, If we would have heard about it in time we probably would have thought real hard about it. We just purchased two shusui koi 2-1/2" from a dealer closing up and moving to a new town. We decided we needed a few koi in the pond. Got two from her, went to another dealer and got two longfins and a fantastic looking silver and scarlet sunbunkin today. We may have boughten from Portland if we had known about it.

There are always lots of vendors with show quality koi for sale there. It's also a good place to see koi in the show tanks that are valued in the $5000 and up range (yes for just one fish!)

Terry,

I built a small 8' x 8' two level pond about 6 years ago. When I went to the local pet store to buy a few fish for it, the owner said they were closing the doors and moving out of state. Everything was gone except for one tank with 10 mixed 2" feeder Goldfish in it. I asked him what he wanted for them, he said a dollar. That dollar's worth of fish must of like my little pond. We have 25 in there now plus the close to 40 more that we've given away to friends and neighbors. They turned out to be Comets, Commons, Shubunkins, Wakins, and Veiltails. Later we added a couple pond Koi.
Our little pond also attracts a few other friends from a near by Creek each year.

My neighbor has a koi pond that I visit every now and then.

Personally, I've found the Comets to be the best-eatin' :p

LOL! A bit boney though?

Ken you got a good buy. The shubunkin and wakins should go for $12 to $30 apiece for decent ones.

Any goldfish is going to be prolific. They can spawn as often as once every two weeks in the summer time.

You can't be done until all the meat is from the bones. Duck, doesn't taste like chicken.:D:D

Yeh, was looking at koi on the internet. $800-3800 in pretty is average for the nicer ones. So is the shipping on live fish, ouch. Some guy in Portland had 13-16" Koi on craigslist for $30-60 and 20-30" for $60-150. Really nice looking heavy ones too. We decided we wanted to start with small ones and raise them up ourselves. Then if we made any mistakes it wouldn't cost us so much. Still hate loosing any those. You get kind of attached to the little buggers.
