I was talking to a guy and found out that he has a sawmill. He pulls up deadhead cypress that has been on the bottom of the river for 100-200 years. He then mills it and sells the boards in 8, 12, & 16 foot lengths for over $10 a foot. So, when he has a 15 foot board he has to cut off 3 feet to make it 12. Now, get this - he has been PAYING someone to haul off the "scraps". I can go get all I want for free, but I am going to pay him to bring me a few truckloads instead. Talk about a win-win situation! Has anyone else thought about doing that at local sawmills?
