i was doing a 4 hr carve last night

the carve was 28" long.

everything went great until the last inch and then the bit suddenly
changed depth and was going about 1/16" less

needless to day the carve didnt turn out the last inch

i vacuumed out the carve every 15 min.

any suggestions?

thanks

A picture or mpc would help a lot to try and see what's going on. Were you under the rollers when this happened?

yes stayed under rollers
had the 7" extra for both ends

center on board

its like the carver belt slipped or something although the head seem to have no play in it

i will post the mpc over my noon hour

The added thickness can be from the board moving down
due to more pressure from the table at the ends.
check your outfeed table.

Also the "Z" rails can get dirty and will need to be cleaned by hand even if your blowing the dust out.

Do not over clean when the unit is running. lots of dust and chips flying inside the unit with the motor running
can give a thickness error.

Check look for loose bits 2

after something goofy happened again last night i finally figured what the problem was........

i needed to clean, clean, clean.

i alway vacuum out after every carve but the lubrication slipped my mind(im old give me a break). so i got the lub cleaner out and lubed and cleaned the x and y bars and the four posts and wouldnt you know it it ran like a dream

sometimes i fool so feelish

Did you redo your carve?

havent did the first one yet

but all i missed was text last night on a sign.
the y truck must have been sticky and gave a false reading when the bit was trying to find the surface of the board.

the carving bit i used first worked perfectly but the 90 degree for the centerline text carved the air about 1/8" above the board.

i took the carving part out of the file, reloaded the board, made a new program and it work good.

a lesson to be learned if im smart enough to remember it lol
