got me again. :(
Double sided sign, last of the commission. I had primed and painted it, covered it with clear adhesive shelf paper, so all I had to do after carving was paint the lettering and peel the shelf paper off and do a bit of touch-up.
The first side carved, display said to flip the board. So I did, end for end!
Why in blue blazes does this dam machine do the second side upside down???? It makes no sense to me.
So half a day of painting and carving and a 16 by 36 piece of stock is wasted.
Yeah, I knew better, but it's still the machines fault.

I couldn't agree more!!! I have given up on double sided boards as I can never remember which way to flip the board.

If you go to the designer and open your project and then you click the <<F>> or the <<R>> tool button the board flips for you. LOOK at the way it flips ti flips from top to bottom not form end to end
So in doubt just go back to the designer and look at it flipping

I know that, but meaning no disrepect, that doesn't make it make sense. As I said, I knew which way it should be flipped, I screwed up.

that has happened to me too and you are right it does not make sense, so I started to look at the designer to verify the flip - technique now I have a print out of it next to the machine to remind me of it
In fact I have a set of instructions for several operations like edging, squaring etc because some times I forget witch edge of the board is used when squaring or edging or from witch edge the machine measure when doing a cut
And since I’m a weekend amateur I even have a print out of the bits and them names so I know that bit to choose when prompted by the machine

The way it flips always made sense to me, since it is exactly the same way Designer flips it. ...sorry...

Tape down a reminder on your outfeed table showing an arrow on direction to flip board for back side carvings. That way it is always there to remind you.

Now you got me confused (haven't done a two-sided project, yet).
So, if you don't flip end-for-end, and on a one-sided carve, you place the "top" of your board on the key pad side of the CW, on a two-sided carve, the second side is carved "upside-down" from a one-sided? (Wait, Who's on first?)
Now, if that's right, how do you match up a two-sided carve like the project of the month?

Boards FLIP as if you were holding each end in a hand and rotating it like a barrel with your wrist. The Text and object on the back is up side down. It will ask for the back side of the board first.
A Cut Path will show up on back for alignment but I place .125 drill holes in the front side of the board to make placement of the stuff on back easier then delete the drilled holed.
Have Fun.

Yep, you have to flip the side/edge that's on the brass thingie (keyboard side) up and over so that side/edge is away from the keyboard and what was the top is now on the bottom and what was the bottom is now the top. And no, Who's on second, What's on first.. :-)
I have no idea how to align objects front to back, mine was simply text that didn't have to be aligned.

Ken, you're getting way too technical - what's a thingie?:)

I have to agree. Makes perfect sense to me too. If I'm holding an 8 foot board and need to "get to the other side"...lol, I'd much rather flip it "over" than end for end. Especially with a low ceiling...lol
CNS,
Using attachments is ALWAYS the easiest way to line things up. On the front, back or both.
Example: Take a pattern and lock it to center on the front. Leave it at it's default size for now. Hit the "R" to flip the board and place the same pattern on the back also locked to center. Now hit the "Flip Vertically" (Picture 1) button and you're done.
If you have a 3 button mouse. Click and hold the center button (wheel for some) while you move the mouse up or down to rotate the board the same way Designer flips it. That way you can go slowly between the front and back and see the patterns are lined up.

using a cutpath and then deleting it later worked for me

Just like turnning a page in a book, page one, page two page three, flip!
I put a arrow showing the front load and a mark on the keypad side eage of the board. I know what side was cut first and the eage that is loaded into the CW.

Hi all,
I always keep it straight in my head by thinking about a pattern that is placed on the end of the board (rather than centered). In this case, there is only one way to flip the board to have it line up.
If, for example, you had a 6' board and an 8" pattern placed on one end, flipping it lengthwise would make for one long skewed pattern :p but flipping across the width would put the same end under the carving bit.
