Well here is my version of the CarveWright monthly project. They only thing that is not included is the clock.
Not sure if I will re carve those pieces or might add a small picture frame instead.

6 different stains
5 acrylic colors
a small sprinkle of fine glitter
lacquer spray finish

Very nice FW. I told you earlier what mine would look like using 5 stains and all those acrylic colors. Be two big brown plain fish....really nice job of blending the colors together.

FW......http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif.....I'm speechless!!! And with my big mouth...that scares me...lol

Simply FANTASTIC WORK!! Can I hire you for the painting?? Suddenly I feel like a kid with a box of crayons!!

That would be an award winner at ANY show I go to.

OK, not speechless after all...WHEW!

Unbelievable! - the trout look real! I don't think it needs a clock or anything else. That is a showpiece to be sure - a piece of art, thanks to your fine finishing technique!

Thanks everyone for the great comments! I even surprised myself with this.

I can't take all of the credit as I had a good coach (wife who is the true artists of the family). She gave me a lot of techniques to try. It did take a little bit of practice to convert painting styles to staining. I have several fish drawn up and stained/painted on scrap to get it down.

Will most definitely do several more of these. Would like to include some actual artificial flies into the design. Might even try with different fish.

Thanks to Michael for making this part of the monthly projects as well. when I signed up for the subscription it was the one showing and hoped it would be the first one to do.

Thanks to all!!!

Ken,

No problem! No such thing as being "late" when it comes to the forum, it is just "catching up". And thanks!

Here is my latest trout project. This one is done to resemble a brown trout.

This was carved a little bigger than the original size. 10" vs 7" trout, different pattern also.

Thanks for all of the WOWs from everyone!

The rock backgound added a lot to the pictures. My wife suggested it after I had already taken a few pictures with it on the table. After seeing how well the trout looked against it I might even try to talk her into making some permanent ones to go there.

Thanks again!
