Cut path not cutting all the way…

I was running a project and at the end it requested the 1/8 bit to do the cut out …

Having placed the bit the machine started the cut in mid air

It went all the way around and then a little closer to the board a second pass.

It was not until the third pass that the bit made contact with the board.

The process went on and when done there was about ¼ “ left to cut.

I finish the project with my jigsaw and sanding.

I was using ¾ MDF ( I use it because is a cheap way to try carves before actual production)

any ideas ?

Sounds like the bit didn't touch the bit plate when you changed bits.

That would be my first guess.

To tell you the truth, I always pay attention to the cut-out process because I have had tabs broken causing trouble, but this time I did not observed the initial homing that the machine does when you load a bit (my wife was calling me for lunch and I got distracted)

Now thinking back there could have been dust and debris on the pates them self blocking the bit from touching.

I’ll pay more attention next time
