I was doing a 42min carving, I walked away and came back with about 95% left and this is what my flex shaft looked like. It was never hot before. I did a quite a few carves between 2-4 hrs and it was never more than luke warm. I never did lube it because it never got hot. How often should you lube it? and when you get it a new one does it come lubed or need to be lubed?
Have the sears 5yr warranty gonna try to argue with them for a new one, but based on all the posts regarding sears it doesn't sound like I will get anywhere.

Thanks

John

Been there, done that.
It's a consumable item, I believe. Meaning even under warranty with LHR, it's not covered.:(

I've seen a lube is recommended every 20 hours of carving time or when ever the Flex-shaft feels more the than warm to the touch.
I've also read several time that all new owners should ckeck the flex-Shaft for proper lubrication as soon as you set up the machine,
because a few have come through with insufficient lubrication and others with none at all.

John,

LHR replaced my flex shaft at not cost but it was within the first month that I owned my CC. I have seen some posts from others because of the length of time of ownership they had to buy a new flex shaft. Only way to really know is give LHR a call.

When you do get a new one I would say to lubing it right away following the recommended lube procedure. A good thing to remember is more is not better when lubing the flex shaft. With over lubing it will get into the cut motor and the cutting head and cause more problems for you.

Hey John,

So sorry to hear that buddy. Nothing worse than a crippled machine. This is what I use and I'll never switch. No "soaking", doubles the time (by my experience) between lubes and NEVER gets more than luke warm. Wipe off, wipe on and go.

Hope that helps and I really hope you're up and running soon. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif

Bubbabear,

I can't understand what I'm doing wrong here. Whenever I copy and paste a forum link, I click on it and it takes me right there. Then it seem others have troubles with it??

let's try again.....

Now I copied this into my browser and it went right there. Let me know if it doesn't and I'll just rewrite the post.

Thanks for telling me Bubbabear.

I installed two new flex shaft cores and springs on unit 1 and unit 2."over 500 hrs on unit 1" now I have more power to the trucks making for better carving overall!

Regarding lube time, I lube the flex shaft evey 10 hrs or if i hear the flex shaft rattle more than normal.
