I'm so excited that 1.130 finally makes the CW respectable for vector work.

I made a sample board with 1/4", .5", .75" and 1.0" drill holes and 1/2" wide and 3/4" wide cutpaths. Here are the results:

Material: 3/4" plywood, not taped on bottom

1/4" hole --> .26" (WOW!)
1/2" hole --> .500" (Holy Bojangles, WOW!)
3/4" hole --> .750"-.760" (WOW!)
1.0" hole --> 1.00-1.01" (WOW!)

0.5" inside cutpath --> .53"
.75" inside cutpath --> .787"

Cutpaths and drill holes are now cut in one full-depth pass at a very slow speed. Stairstepping has now been permanently eliminated!

I'm especially impressed with the drill holes. We finally are getting good circle vector cuts, one of my chief complaints.

The cutpaths being .03" off is easy to deal with, and the accuracy of the cut is very much improved.

This is great news, and it's rejuvinated my interest in projects that require greater accuracy than the machine could previously provide!

I have found that the greatest limitation on the some vector operations now is the 1/128" resolution in Designer. I was attempting to cut a 1/4" wide x 1/4" deep slot with the 1/8" bit by drawing a 1/4" wide rectangle and using a 0.062 inset. This gave me a 0.29" wide slot. Interestingly Designer showed a small sliver left in the middle of the slot, which there was when cutting too. I messed around with the inset in Designer until the sliver disappeared on screen. When cut I had a very respectable 0.258 slot.

The moral of the story is if you need a really accurate vector you can tweak the dimensions in Designer to get it even closer.

Absolutely.

This update has really pushed the accuracy bottleneck in another direction. Now that the machine is reaching a higher performance standard, I'm hoping that continued updates to the software will allow us to make even tighter tolerances and more accurate designs.

One of my pet peeves is that I'd like to have that extra decimal place for measuring in designer. I often make the grid at .062" and have all that additive error in my grid as I go across the board. I'd love to be able to place grid lines at .0625" or specify a dimension for a shape to the exact 1/16", e.g. a 1 1/16" rectangle is 1.0625".

I never had any such accuracy problems before. Sounds to me like now it's just gonna be slower? Oh boy...LOL

It's a major upgrade even raster work is better overall!:)

COOL!! Can't wait to put my machine back together and try some carves then....

Chris, you've always had the 'god' machine anyway :) Even your old photos of 1.5" circles weren't that round. I'll bet you can get better results now, too.

This update has made a huge difference for me.

I don't know about all that deemon. I just "sync" well with machines. In my nature I guess. And those holes? I have forstner bits that don't make them as nice. No, they aren't dull either...LOL

One more thing that could make this machine even super is adding the adjustable feed rate. This machine can do some fine details for small ojbect with feed rate lower than 1/16". with smaller bit added like 1/32" for example.
I hope we or someone can send this request to LHR.

Just saw another change in 130. I have been putting in the final bit like the carving bit at the beginning and let the carving bit take the place of the V60 and Cutting bit for the first round of checks then with the carving bit in place off it goes carving after that check. Well I got an error message that the bit did not match the initial check and to abort or continue.... Progress.

That was a time saving process.... Press 2 for continue...
