Decided I needed a business sign so I carved one :)

This is my first attempt at a large sign and learned some do's and don'ts. Didn't come out perfect but I think it came out pretty decent. 15 hours total carve time out of cedar. Final dimensions is 38" x 22" x 3/4"

Look nice and clean. No doubt that it will catch a lot of attention.

Kevin,

That is a nice sign. Good layout and finish - well done.

One problem I had was keeping it flat and not warping so the sign doesn't lie flat. I used 3 bar clamps to glue them together.

Kevin,

I'm not to sure what you mean by "pretty decent" bud. That looks "Pretty damn good" from where I'm sitting. Very nicely done. :)

Thanks. I'm my own worst critic as my ex-wife will tell you. :D There are some "flaws" that don't show up in the picture but they are things I can fix next time if the oppurtunity ever arises again.

BTW it doesn't show up in the picture very well but the background is supposed to simulate the bark of a log.

The only thing to say about your first large sign as I see it is.

Great job, Great job.

The CW is just one fine machine and with your design and the CW look what you have to show.

Thank you for sharing this with all of us.
