I have just upgraded from 1.12 to 1.125. When I accessed the firmware on the card it asked me if I wanted to use 1.125 or 1.126. Is there any difference and if so should I use the 1.126.

Frank,

If I recall correctly, 1.125 had some bugs that were addressed in 1.126 within a few days of 1.125. I think the latest upgrade is the better option.
Be aware that both 1.125 and 1.126 address ownership of patterns differently than 1.120! They can keep you from modifying your own patterns if you indeed make your own patterns and scans (does not affect mpc).

Thanks Doc. I was using my scanner and as I went through some of the menu prompts I came accross one that said version. I went through those prompts and it said I was using 1.126 frimware. When I complete the scans I am doing, will the firmware recognise that I am the author automaticly? This isn't the first time I used the scanner but it will be with this version of the firmware. I scaned a square and compasses (masonic) with my 1.12 and when I upgraded to 1.126 it said I could not edit it because I was not the author.

Thanks Frank

Frank,

If you scan it with 1.126, you can do what you want to with it, however, if you send the scan to me, I can not modify it. at least that is what I think happens.

There were a couple of threads about this several months ago.

The MPW file from the scan is 'open' or 'unlocked' if you will. If you convert it to a pattern the pattern file cannot be edited by others.

If I was to post a mpw file and and not convert it and you copied that from the forum would you be able to load that into your files and have it be recoginized as yours when you convert it to a ptn? Or would sending the scan work or not as Doc suggested?

Thanks Frank

Frank,

The mpw acts differently than a ptn, sorry for the confusion. As Jeff said, the mpw would allow anyone to make changes, the ptn would restrict others.

Sorry I was not as clear as I should have been.

Well said, and I learned something too...

Just a note; Looks like you need to ZIP the MPW file (Max size 97.7 kb). I don't see the MPW file listed on the "Manage Attachment Window"

Thank you for the information on these file types. I get lost sometimes trying to put it all together. It has been said to err is human. But you need a computer to really mess things up.

Thanks Frank
