For Lighting I used a Florescent Puck fixture form Home Depot or Lowes
($9.95 Feit Electric soft white 9watt #CFL GX53)
because of its long life and very low heat output.
The display box is open grained Light Mahogany, no Oil or Stain,
just hand burnished and couple coats of Minwax clear Lacquer.
The ¼” Bone Corian is 6” x 8” and the Black Chancery Centerline Text
is filled with 18kt metallic gold paint. The Carve time was 39 minutes.
It is going to be a Get Well gift for a Dear long time family friend.

Ps. I'm rather pleased with how it turned out.

Looks great Ken! The light pack seems to do the job well!

Ken,

That did turn out well. I like the looks of them when back-lit but find mine unattractive otherwise, gotta figure out a way to change that.

Jack,

I did try this one. Did nothing with the picture. I think it needs carve a little deeper...we'll see what happens. The first is yo file the other is the litho carving.

Hi Guys,

I looked at this one also, it has a lot going on but not much detail.
I cleaned the picture up a bit and add a little contrast. So when I loaded into CW Designer
I could see it would carve deeper than the original picture.
I haven't had a chance to run it through the machine yet,
and I fear it still doesn't have enough detail.

Ken,

I carved this today on 1/4" bone Corian. Depth: 0.220, Height: 500. I took the photos in an east facing window under a cloudy sky. The detail and contrast is spectacular...more so that I'm able to capture with the camera.
The carved size is 7.5' X 6".

Jerry,

Looks really Great,

Their often a challenge, trying this and trying that, cleaning them up and toning them down.
I can remember back now, a little over a year ago I don't think I knew what a lithophane was. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Me too. I had no idea...I'm still mesmerized. I've got to figure a way to put some of them, somewhere in a piece of furniture. Maybe it would work in a pulpit???

Just this minute I noticed the dove up in the clouds near Christ's head!!
