When I start a new project, I'm getting message just after the cutting head and bit power up. It simply says I should check the cutting motor. If I go ahead and hit Enter, the carving begins with no apparent problem. But I'm concerned that something might be going wrong in some nonobvious way. What am I supposed to check in relation to the cutting motor? I have no clue. The trucks seem to be clear and lubricated but they're not the motor. I've read about a bearing going bad in the cutting head. Could the machine be telling me that's what's happening? Anybody else encounter this message?

I have the same situation -- so far I just hit enter and continue. I believe it has something to do with a magnet, but I'm not sure what to do about it or if I need to. I'm interested in hearing some recent experiences. I did a search and learned a few things but nothing too recent.

If you read back about 6 months of posts or use the search "Check Cut Motor" or "CCM" you will find about 50 posts on the topic. My Anatomy of the Cut Motor has some great pictures and a details of what is wrong. You basically need the new round magnet for your cut motor. The original one just let go and is not sending signals.

Good Luck and Welcome,
