I'm fairly new to the process but am having fun learning how to design and carve - the process is very similar to my embroidery machines so the learning curve is not too bad. Just have to play some more and learn what some of the software tools do - the manual could be more descriptive and not all of my questions can be answered in the help section. The last couple of carves, I've gotten a message "check cut motor" - I could not find anything in the troubleshooting section of the manual. The machine still seems to carve okay but I don't want to damage it by continuing to carve if there is something wrong. I've left several messages with Carvewright over the last several days but despite the promise of a response in 24 hours, I've heard nothing. Can anyone tell me what is going on?
Thanks,
Sheila

Hello and welcome to the forum. I have had my machine for a while, and I also get this error or message whichever at the beginning of every carve job. Don't know why but all works fine. I got used to it and take it as a reminder to turn on the dust collector then press enter and away it goes. would like to know why it does this also!

What version of designer are you using. I thought this problem pretty much went away with 1.25 and 1.26.

Hello Sheila,

Sorry to hear about your problem. Might try giving LHR a call early in the morning (Texas time). Can usually get right through to Support in the early AM before it gets too busy.

FYI - There are other resources that will help take up some of the slack where the owner's manual and the Help File leaves off. You may already know, but the monthly CarveWright Tips & Tricks (http://www.carvebuddy.com/learning_center.html) is useful, as well as the CarveWright "video" Tutorials (http://www.carvewright.com/cms/tutorials). Also, www.allcw.com (http://www.allcw.com) has a couple great tutorials as well.

Your "check cut motor" message is probably caused by the magnetic retainer on the end of the cut motor shaft has gone bad. The old style retainer was made of rubber. new style is plastic. I just got my replacement cut motor today for the very same reason.

please read this thread on the forum: http://www.carvewright.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6765

Just as pesky as the check engine light on the car.... A piece of black tape over it helps.

Just kidding.... The link above is the answer, it's just the magnet has let loose and is no longer doing it's job.

Welcone Selila, this is the place to ask and learn.

I have version 1.126 - I will continue to try to contact customer service. I have checked out the on-line tutorials and they are wonderful - very well done. Hope that I will be posting pictures of my first projects soon. Again thanks to all of you - it's great to know that a resource of experienced users is out there to lend a helping hand.
