traction belt tearing

I just had a traction belt self destruct. I have just glanced at the machine and don't see an easy way to replace it. It is the front belt. One of these days I will get the handle on this thing. My wife says it was an expensive flop! I am beginning to agree with her but still have hope!
The wood I put in was smooth with no rought edges. It appears it started to tear at the seam! I need some help on getting a new one installed.
