flex shaft

When I took the flex shaft out to re lube a coil or spring,the same length as the sheath, came out with it is this normal or might the sheath be deteriating it slipped right back in and it dosn't effect the shaft just haven't seen any post about this .

That is Normal. I had one drop out while the flex was hanging as I was fixing a Z problem. Found it on the floor all stepped on and had to order another.
