Has any one every tried to carve on a round surface like a bed post or gun stock? If so did you build a sled ?
Thanks Kenny

No I have not personally tried it but I do know for a fact you would have to build a sled. The other thing is that designer will think it has a flat surface so you may have some problems as far as depth in certain areas of our carving

I think it's been talked about on here somewhere that carving can be done on a gunstock, just make a sled, scan it with the probe, then it will go into designer to add your carving.

Daniel has the answer here.

Basically you have to start with the same curve on the board in designer. Whether you get it from scanning (the easy way) or design a gray scale gradient (the hard way), once you have that curve, just add your carvings to it and merge them "additive" so they follow the curve.

Here's a small example of placing a pattern on a curved surface. Merging it additive allows the pattern to follow the curve.
