File Organization

I guess I'm missing something in terms of the file structure designer uses to store your files.

I save a file and create a directory but it doesn't show in the designer file list. I have to go to regular windows Explore to find it.

Do I need to reload the designer software or just what am I screwing up?

Designer always opens the last directory that you saved your last project. If you move a file after you closed Designer then Designer won't know where to find it. So lets start from scratch.

We'll create a new folder on the desktop for the CW Projects.

1. On you Desktop, right click and pick New > New Folder. Rename the new folder "CW Projects"

2. Open Windows Explore. Pick on the Restore Down button at the upper right of the screen and reduce the size of the Explore. Move the Explore around so you can see the new CW Projects folder on the desktop.

3. In Explore pick Search. In the Search options type *.mpc and search the entire "C" drive

4. After all the MPC files are found, drag them into the CW Projects folder.

5. Open Designer, then Open, Open the Directories window and find Desktop.

6. Pick on the folder "CW Projects" to see your projects.

7. Once you open a project from this folder, Designer will create new projects to the same folder.
