Could someone explain the difference between a ptn. and mpc. file extension?

.ptn's are patterns, which are used in the .mpc files, which are your project files.

PTN files - files created by Designer when importing images to be used as patterns. PTN files can be imported or exported from within the Designer Program.
MPC files - Output file extension the Designer puts on it's saved project files.
For instance: Microsoft Word puts a DOC extension on all the MS Word files.
