As a pattern designer and vendor at the depot, I can tell you it's lots of time and hard work...lol.

If you have such a device and can save it to a usable graphics format, post one here. I'd love to see "what if".

This is what I got so far, It is only at 72dpi and it is a png. I will play with some more when I can get some more time with the 3d Scaner.

What type of output does the scanner use by default? Because once it's in PNG format, it's just a flat picture. If the scanner outputs to a true 3D format, perhaps it can be worked with in other applications before going to PNG.

I took the picture you posted and brought it into Designer "as is" and it would require just as much work to make a "clean" carving as any other picture.

It can save in stl, vlmr u3d , you can then open the file in to Adobe 3d or if it is u3d you can work with it Photo Shop. But like is said this is just a test. I will try some more samples tonight. Thanks

hopes for the turtle greycale but all those lines make it look worse that the elvis one. using the blur tool on it helped but lost most detail.

The original turtles and cactus would have been great if they were done at a higher resolution. What is the highest that you can do with your scanner?
