I don't have the machine yeat, it's on order. I'm just trying to get an understanding of what the machine can do so I can get a head start before even having it in hand.

I want to do several hobby ideas with it. I'd like to even make my own prop replicas if I can. Let's say we're wanting to make Han Solo's gun from Star Wars:

How possible is that? I know it can't cut it in a solid run. I'm fine with knowing I have to break it up to get a full cut. So the question is, can it actually do it? I'd imagine if you were to measure from one side to the other, you'd get around an inch and a half to 2 inches. Meaning you probably could cut one side at a time and glue it up if this machine works the way I think it does.

Here's a wooden gun someone made that I've seen online:

Its possible, Members on here cut out Guitars on this machine so I would imagine the same could be done with this. This machine will do a front side and a back side carve. The machine will just let you know when its time to switch the board. Just a matter of lining it up correctly.

That's nice. Well this machine looks like it'll do pretty much anything I want so long as I learn how to work with it. I've got an older model Roland vinyl cutter at work that I've learned how to turn out some pretty detailed cuts from it due to playing with it. I do have it in mind to do some signs that will use vinyl cut designs and wood carved elements as well.

a two sided piece with the carving bit only at 1-1/2" thick. you can do two inches if you carve to 3/4" on each side and do an outline an vector cut using the cutting bit on the front and back at 1". carving bit is limited to 3/4" and cutting bit to 1" because of the flute lenght on the cutter.

I'd be even fine carving each side by themselves and then glue the parts together even. That wouldn't be a big deal to me. Then say for the sake of the visual I wanted a 4" round pipe and needed it 15" long, I could cut 15 circles 4" round and just glue them together. There's better ways to do that, but just saying. I'd guess the same would hold true for a jet. If it were pretty thick, I could cut the roundness of each side then cut the top and bottom to complete the body and glue it all up. Plus if i work with plastic I can actually heat and bend the plastic after detail was cut in.

The machine is suppose to arrive tomorrow, so if there's no damage or issues from shipping I should be able to do a first cut Saturday. Work will keep me from doing anything tomorrow and Friday.
