Is there a way to smooth patterns?

While practicing, I created an arbitrary shape with a gradient fill in Corel Photo Paint.

I'm using 16 bit gray scale and 600 dpi.

When I import it, the edges look like an orange peel.

I don't see any pixelation in the image so I'm not sure where the noise is coming from.

any ideas?

some white around the edge. when i do one in corel i take it to pattern editor and use the smooth button and go around the edge and it turns it black on the very outside which gets rid of the jaggies around the edge of the pattern.

Where's the smooth button in the pattern editor?

Actually it's the Blur tool. Or, on the menu bar go to Filter/Smooth and you can click the number of effect up one at a time to effect the whole image at once and see it as it happens.

Is that in Corel or Designer?

Pattern editor in Designer. Do you have the scanning probe? The Pattern Editor comes with that. If you're using Corel, make sure you have one solid color all the way out to the edge. No different shaded pixels or you'll get the dreaded peaks and valleys...lol

like a water drop. it is the blur tool but it also turns the very outside edge black to be the lowest i guese they designed it that way.

I didn't get the probe. Is there a way to get the sofware without buying the probe?

Why don't you give the folks at CarveWright a call and see if they have any insight into a future possibility of them offering the Pattern Editor software as an "accessory"?

If not, then you may want to purchase the scanning probe anyway. I think you'll have a ball with it. (plus you'll have the Pattern Editor software included)

About a year ago they mentioned that they were working on a more advanced version of Designer and, I understood, a better editor as well. Maybe you can get an update on those developments. Won't hurt to check. Their phone number is 1-800-573-1226

I upgraded my software last week due to a system crash and had to download the software form Carvewright and it came with the pattern editing software, now I cannot edit their patterns, but I can edit anything that I bring in.

go around the png in another program and erase the edge pixles...just time consuming.

You can edit any pattern that you have created or any Version 1.120 or before pattern.
