cant activate software

I just recieved my compucarve today, been trying to activate software

It says to enter activation ID or serial # I enter the activation # and it comes back unknown Serial # or activation code
It shows the proper serial # and it says your license, you have not registered any computers yet, please enter your computers activation code above.
When i enter it it takes me back to the same message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The disc that came with my machine is v .120. I had .126 demo on my computer and the disc overwrote it or corrupted some files. So I opened designer. opened it without registering, went to the help screen and picked "search for updates" It reloaded 126 and I registered the demo version.
Now it's working properly.
