Somone had mentioned before but i cant find the thread that they were able to download a free version of a photoshop program off the net that works great for preping digital photos before bringing them into designer. After seeing that Adobe Photoshop wants 350.00 for theirs im open to suggestions. Im using Vista 2007 operating system.

Try Adobe Photo Elements. It's all the cool stuff in Photoshop and it's only $99

Unless you are into heavy graphics design Photoshop is overkill for this.
Paint Shop Pro (http://www.viosoftware.com/Paint+Shop+Pro/Paint+Shop+Pro+Photo+X2.html) would do it and most all of your graphics nicely

Or, if you have a good, stable computer this one. Paint Shop Pro OEM (http://www.viosoftware.com/Paint+Shop+Pro/Paint+Shop+Pro+Photo+X2+OEM.html) OEM will install on one computer and only one. If the computer goes down and you have to get a new one, you will have to buy new software.

If you have Microsoft Office on your computer, check to see if you have Microsoft photo editor. You can change your digital photos to greyscale and save them as PNG files.

You can download a program called Paint.net from
http://www.getpaint.net/. It is a full blown paint package and it free. I haven't found anything I couldn't do with this package. It will do your grayscales and files can be saved as PNG's.

I personally have gone from Photoshop elements 4 then 5 to Photoshop CS3 and now Illustrator, but my plans for graphics go past the CW.
