This is very creative, and so simple. I see alot of potential with this one, find a different liquid. A few tweaks and it could make a great scanner for making patterns.

I looked into the David (http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/22/david-software-turns-your-webcam-into-a-3d-laser-scanner/) software, but it didn't work out for me. If I had a better laser and/or webcam, maybe it would have. But, my patience wore thin and I gave up. I thought it had potential and if it worked, it would not be as messy as milk covered legos after my kids came in the room. :)
