I was wondering if the cut motor is a direct drive or if it is a gear drive. Can it be rotated by manually rotating the chuck?

Hotpop,
I have dismantled the cut motor and it is a single shaft with a female square to receive the flexshaft. When you spin the chuck there should be resistants since it is spinning the shaft and when the flex shaft is out of the chuck, the chuck should spin freely with no resistance.

My question is, should there be a magnet on the end of the (cut motor)shaft??? I think my machine chewed it up if it is supose to be there!!!
