Hi
Everyone I just had a destuction!!!
The carving bit on the project i JUST started was fine until it started to carve and it spun out into the wood, the bit was fine i twisted it out of the wood good to go so I thought started it up and it carved about 30 sec worth and kaboom!!
The bit and holder a fine but the cullet was messed up, just the inside that locks it in.
Please tell me I can just replace the collet and not the whole Z pac.

According to the parts assembly pdf it is the Quick Change Assembly #A005-00033
Now I just have to find out how to get it off, does not show in pdf.

I haven't removed one myself, but LHR told me the new QC that they send you comes with some kind of a special tool that you need to use. Sorry I can't be of more help.

If you need to replace your Quick Change chuck drop an e-mail to Ron Justice at rjustice@hughes.net. He sells the tools required to replace the QC chuck.

The right tools make chuck replacement a 5 minute job.

I've had 4 "destructions" sine I got the CW last June. Each time it has been a failure at the QC. All but 1 invloved the Z-Pack. In talking with CW tech support today, they admitted there is a problem with the QC that the devepers are working on. I certainly hope it's soon because I don't feel confident in this part of the machine.

Anyone know of a retro-fit like a standard router collett? Never have a problem.

From my experience every QC failure I have had has been my error first. Not seating the bit in the QC all the way. In some cases the valley of the QC gets impacted with sawdust and pitch to the point that bit will not seat properly. The machines spins up and starts cutting and at some point the bit drills into the wood and upon retraction the bit comes out of the QC. Then the QC goes back down and the destruction takes place..... The root cause in my opinion is a dirty sticky QC...

The Car Tire Rim Self Distructed..... After the nail let the air out of the tire.....

I always do the bit tip wiggle and pull after every bit change, more than once I was able to pull the bit out.... Signaling a QC Cleaning.

I use a drop of oil on the bit adapters before installing
everytime, makes the chuck much better to work with.

DH, I know what you mean

I have several (Must Do) projects with “Due Dates” coming up soon,
That's why I ordered a few (Just in Case) items to be on the safe side.
