Is the replacement power board better then the original?

I now need a new power supply board...are the replacement ones better than the originals, in the way that the Z-pack is an upgrade on the original?

Well, I had that broken L2 coil problem. I got it soldered back together and everything is working fine.

Does anyone know what that grey adhesive is called that holds the coil down? It's kind of spongy, like silicone. Is there some specific name that I can look for at Radio Shack?
