Need Some Graphics Help Please

I’m trying to learn a little bit about creating my own patterns and can’t quite get it. I have a JPG logo that I ran through VectorMagic that vectorizes the JPG image – does a really great job of cleaning the image up in no time flat. Problem is that Vectormagic only lets me save the image as a PNG or SVG file. Haven’t a clue about using SVG but when I save it as a PNG the jagged edges come back just as though I hadn’t vectorized the image. I know I’m missing something here. There must be a way to smooth out the edges as the patterns I’ve bought don’t seem to have the ragged edges. Could someone steer me in the right direction?

Cliff,

You have run into something that I've also encountered with VectorMagic. I believe there are tools within that OnLine program that might help you, but I personally just take the image into CorelDraw when I have that problem and do a bezier path drawing to get finer results (see Mud Flap Girl, I've uploaded in a post on the Forum).
