First let me say I am thinking about purchasing a machine to do a specific job.
We intend to mount a photograph to a piece of quarter inch thick acrylic and cut out the person in the photograph to make a photo statue.

I have a number of questions
Is the spindle speed varaible?
Can i get the tool to make a smooth cut all the way around?
Can I get the tool to cut all the way through the base piece.
I have read talk of a sled but I don't see one for sale. Do I need it.

I would like to be able to cut 10 to 50 of these statues a day and each one would be different Will this machine work?

Minimum thickness for this HOBBY MACHINE is 1/2", so you would have to make your own sled or carrier board to come up to at least 1/2". Then you could program it to cut through your 1/4" project. This machine is not very fast at cutting out. It would probably cut 1/4" in 3 passes, and it goes through measureing the length and width and bits every time . Too slow for production work. The spindle speed is not variable, it picks its own speed and feed rate based on bits selected.
It would be much faster to stake cut with a scrollsaw.
