I was wondering if anyone has tried to cut a scarf for joining two boards together with the machine....

I'm building a canoe and need to lengthen my lumber.... just wondering how precisely(and how much grain tear-out) it would cut a 8:1 bevel on three-quarter cedar.

If your talking about a bevel on the END of a board ,the machine will only cut 45 deg. bevels.
It uses a 1/4" roundnose bit to cut this. Quality is not bad , but it's faster and smoother on a power miter box.

I believe you could carve an 8 to 1 bevel using shades of gray starting with black going to white
for a regular Scarf Joint or even an Interlocking Scarf Joint. Their similar to a long wedges.

As Dan pointed out it would be time consuming
