I have a friend that wants me to carve a logo used by the BIA. The original is about 7 inches in diameter and is embroidered (sp?) on a nylon material. I think I could use a flatbed scanner to get an image to convert to a ptn file after processing in paint.net.

My question is what format does a scanner save an image as or do they give you a choice? Has anyone used a scanner for this type of work?

I'm looking at a Canon CanoScan 4400F Color Image Scanner. Good enough?

Thanks,
Cliff in Roswell

Hi Cliff,

Most scanners will save your photos in any format you want plus, several graphics programs can convert them after their scanned

But if you have access to a digital camera you can just photo it and upload the photo into a graphics program and work with it from there.

Here’s one on a tee shirt I just took a photo of a minute ago and used paint.net
A quickie and little rough but you get the idea

Ps. This one was only 3x3 the 7" would be much better

Most scanner software that I've used opens my Photoshop Elements, where I can save to almost any format.

Maybe do an image search with google <http://images.google.com/> and possibly save yourself the cost of a scanner?
