if it keeps telling you to load board, i believe one of your rollers is not compressed. with head cranked down, go to o-7 on keypay and check rollers? compress or released

only thing i can think of is the thick grease used on the gears for raising and lowering the pressure rollers is naturally thick and then when it gets cold it goes into overdrive and now instead of thick it is plain stiff as a good piece of oak lumber

dona, I live in MI and my shop is only heated when I'm out there and turn the heat on. So in the winter months I'm bringing the CW inside and only set it up out in the shop when I'm gonna use it and warm up the shop prior to setting it up and take it back into the house at the end of the day when I'm not gonna run the heat any more. I do not want moisture to build up on it nor from the info I have read the CW cannot take the temps that my shop will drop to here in MI in the winter months. I started bringing my machine inside when not in use about 1 month ago when the frost first started.

I installed a heat pump in my shop, like the ones used in a hotel. You can purchase these starting around $350.00. Mine was $750.00, has remote control ( I like high tech  ), but it heats and cools a 12x24 shop.It also runs on 110 volts. It is always a nice 72 degrees in there and it only added about $15.00 a month to my electric bill. Way less than I would spend on Propane, Kerosene or on portable electric heaters. PLUS I get air conditioning.

I have installed these units in plenty of additions, shops, basements, garages and even one in a portable shop trailer. They work GREAT!

I know not everyone can afford to do this, but if you can, I highly recommend it. Not only will you be more comfortable, but the tools stay at a constant temperature, which is good for them.

Hey Ed,

My son has plenty electric power in his well insulated 22x24 garage shop, and was thinking of running a gas line for heat.
The heat pump sounds like a better idea, heat for the fall and winter with a/c for the spring and summer.
We're also here in Michigan, some of those February mornings in his shop can be brutal.
Could you post the brand name or model number of the unit you are useing.

Many Thanks

Here is the place I use.

www.ajmadison.com (http://www.ajmadison.com/b.php/PTAC+Units/N~56+1118)

BTU Calculator (http://www.ajmadison.com/phpdocs/ajtest/html_templates/btu_calculator.php)

They are very curtious and knowlegable. Plus I usually get my units 2-4 days before I expect it.

Thanks Again Ed,

I think this is going to save him some grief and a lot of time,
not having to break up a cement pad and digging a forty foot trench for a gas line. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Good idea. I just have a perfect place for one of them. Thank goodness I have a dust collection system to help keep the air clean...

I put an extra filter on mine, one of those universal foamy thingies, pretty sure that is the technical name for it :D

Anyway, I have to pull the front grill off to change it, but it is only 2 screws and it really catches a lot of dust that would hit the units, "fair", filter.

Glad this has helped you all.
