I made 2 of these of ash & redwood 4x4 frame to go back to back. The letters are 8" tall.

Paul,

That is a fine piece of work. Seems like the finished product is pretty heavy.
I count five boards in the carve area, which doesn't divide by three very well, did the sign split a word horizontally?

I don't see how it would work without splitting a word - very well done.

It's fairly heavy, but going on a steel framed sign post thingy. I glued up my panel at a tad over 3 x 5, then cut 12" strips, carved, then painted, glued it back together, & ran it through the big sander. After a good RO sanding, 5 coats of SW exterior WB poly.

Paul,

Nice work, on a great project.
It easy to see the differences between your work and mine.

that looks great. I love the ash redwood and red wood contrast.
Did you use centerline or raster for those letters?

Centerline, with a 1" wide signmaking bit. There was still a little hand carving of the bottom of the widest part of the letters.
