3/8" bit versus 1/8" bit for cutting

Can the 3/8" bit be used in place of the 1/8" bit for cutting?

NO! The machine adjusts its feeds and speeds based on the bit it thinks is in it. And, the cut offset will also be wrong.

I would use a smaller bit than the one called for in designer, although I do use a 1/4" bit in place of the 1/8" bit especially for drilling adjustable shelf holes in cabinets.
