On 9/18/07, I got a printable copy of the Designer Manual from CW as an email attachment.

My 9/18 response thanked them and suggested that they:
1) Put the PDF-file in with their next revision of the software.
2) Put the PDF-file on their Web site.

In case CW didn't immediately implement my suggestions (GASP!), you probably could get a copy by writing to:
Omar Alexander <info@carvewright.com> and requesting a copy of:
carvewright_software_manual_599[1].pdf

HTH.

(I had posted this info earlier as part of a unrelated thread, but thought it might be worth a separate thread.)

Frank, why not attach the PDF to your post?

Frank, why not attach the PDF to your post?

I used the paperclip icon and tried uploading it, but I'm guessing it won't work. The file is about 1.5MB, and the posting limit for PDFs appears to be 488.3 KB.

Sorry. :(

Send it to me at jeff.birt.cw@gmail.com and I'll post it over at AllCW and link it back here.

Many Thanks Frank,Jeff, and CarveWright,

Great Designer Manual .PDFfrom CarveWright for the CW and CC Machines.
Very good Guide for our New Carvers as well as a Handy Reference for a few of us Old Timers.
I know I picked up a couple of New Tricks for this Old Dog. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Isn't this the same document that is in the help file of Designer?

Help - Help contents

Look in the directory you installed the software in:

c:\carvewright\docs\html\using_software.html

Some other things in that directory some may not know about too. :o

Hi, Tommy --

You're absolutely right -- this is the same document! The Disigner Manual PDF-file includes the using_software.html you mentioned. Based on a sampling of over half of the other files in that \html\ directory, the PDF-file also includes all its other html-files.

Thanks for your comments.

Are there any advantages to the PDF-file? For me, there are two main ones: the PDF-file is printable and it's conveniently searchable. Being printable lets me print it off and read it anywhere, not just in front of my monitor. Most people find it easier to read a book than an e-book. I certainly do.

Searchable is handy also. If I am looking at the the PDF-file on my monitor, and want to know about Attachments, I can easily do a search in Adobe Reader and find the 13 places in the text where Attachments appears.

The last I heard no documentation was available to the CW pattern editor. :(
