Hi there I am new to this forum and looking to purchase something to help me with my rc modeling. My question is how well or "can" the carvewright cut derlin and or more importantly styrene. i use these two plastics quite a bit in building rc models.

what I am trying to achive is something like this: at the moment I cut these by hand and they are made of styrene.

after cutting all the pieces and glue them together I get this

In my opinion it would do it.... The limitation would be the accuracy.... The machine is accurate but you are at the mercy of the carrier board you use to carry the parts into the machine. The brass roller tracks the board in the x position. When it works, it works WELL... When it slips like it did in my last pictures it wastes a lot of material. It was caused by a worn sand paper belt. After changing the belt I have had good accuracy.

The plastic like material you need to watch because a ball of plastic builds up on the tip due to heat.

Drawing the artwork for vector cutting, is a whole new ball game.

I say buy it and try it.... Don't like it then resell the unit. They maintain the value.

Good Luck,

AL
