Is it possible to print out a design to show a client? Directly from Designer, rather than a screen capture?

Thanks,

Danni

Danni,

There is an option under Edit, or press Ctrl-P. A screen capture program like King Kong Capture works better for me.

To add to this question which I see has already been answered....what about coverting the file from .ptn to a .jpg? Probably need one of those after market file conversion programs eh? I've got Windows Vista and Xp on another machine....anything in there to convert files? "Save As" doesn't seem to pop up a .jpg or .jpeg option.

 Craig,
As I mentiond above, King Kong Capture is good (as is Snagit).
For King Kong (free) see http://kingkongcapture.com/
I use it at home and the office.

Re-read your post - I think I answered a question that you didn't ask;-)

Craig,

If you want to convert PTNs to images (PNG, GIF, BMP) you can use a little tool I created. http://www.carvewright.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4099 It only works for PTN files though.

If you have the full version of Acrobat or equivalent you could also print the project to a PDF. That would allow you to pull out the image and add in text.

When using the print feature in designer I find it helps to position the image far to the left side otherwise it cuts off the image.
I use email to get approval of a design often. ALT +print screen then pste into paint and select crop area then new file then paste cropped image and save file then send as attachment, whew! simple ;)

To contiune with Gman's explination just a litte further... step by step

1. maximize your designer software to full screen.
2. hit your "print scrn" button (on my laptop you have to hold down the Function key at the same time) by doing so a full screen image is copied to your copy buffer.
3. open up an email , or word document
4. hit "CTL, V" (which is a keystroke for paste) and your image will appear in either of those documents ready to send.

I also use a program called "snagit" which has a free demo. With it you can mark up the captured image, add words, arrows, etc. very user friendly.

Thanks Doc and Jeff. Doc, I thought you weer refering to only printing versus saving it to file. I'll check out kingkong and the one that Jeff created for .ptn files. Thanks!
