My carvings are cutting way too deep - almost throught the wood.
What may be the problem ?

It might help you you attach a project file that you are having trouble with. This lets other folks take a look and see if it is just a setting in the software.

Could be an error with the bit flag not coming out far enough and a false length recorded. You will see it touch the bit flag twice normally but 3 times if it gets an unexpected reading. Could be a problem with the side guide not close enough to the board. I did get a error saying "Move the guide closer" one time.

Watch the homing of your bit and look for an error. Another problem is a BAD Z Encoder that will cause this too.

Call CarveWright.

Hello,

Please see attachments. The thickness of wood was 3/4 in.
The bit also went towards the left and cut through a portion of plastic just behind the brass roller.
No error message was given. The depth settings was 0.06

Any thoughts ?

Looks to me like your bit loossened up and moved down ???
Check bit and Screw holders Just a thought

If carve top first then moved to bottom??
The way your holding it Upright??
You can also see it started to wobble near end (bottom)
But Dont know how or why it cut machine your carved area is not even over there????
Maybe Im Wrong??

On previous occassion it was found that the bit was loose.
The bit was checked and tightened before any new carving was done. The result was still too deep cut.

Thanks

Call CW as it looks like you have a bad Z pack / encoder.

What is the carving depth? If you carve something in a .77 inch board at .8 inches it will leave you with problems.... I use a digital caliper to measure the boards I use.

Board thickness verses actual board thickness?
