A few weks ago someone suggested a source and product which I think was using a Dremel tool to polish/clean a carving.
I've tried using the search feature with no luck to find the company.
Does anyone have suggestions to smooth carvings to ready them for a finish?
Thanks,
Russ
Search for posts with Scotch-brite, or something like that. I have been using something similar - Dremel makes wheels They are called Finishing Abrasive Buffs, part number 511E, 180, 220 grit. Picked them up at Home Depot.

I used some of those in my cordless drill and they do work good, just need to get some different grits now.

Yeah, I got the 220 and 400, I found if I press on too hard they loose there bristles real fast, but they do a nice job of cleaning. I used mine in a Dremel tool

After much searching I have found a 3M disk which will help us clean up our carves.
The Company is (R.S.Hughes)"http://rshughes.com/catalog/306720.html".
My my first order I ordered 10 #80 and 10 #220.
The #80 worked great the #220 are OK but more for polish.
Each of these are the 3/4 diameter and work well. I also ordered the #120 (white) discs which are 9/16. It sounds like a small difference, but they start out smaller and they all wear down quickly, I will not order any more #120.
The #80 and #220 are a good combination.
The disks are very narrow and I use three on my Dremel spindel.
The #80 will clean a carve quickly and rather aggresavly.
I use a slower speed to be precise.
The #220 is good for more of a plolish.
With my two orders they have been prompt and the lowest price I have found.

Had some trouble getting to some small areas and the bottom of the V in CL text.
Started looking around the shop and found a soldering aid tool with a small soft wire brush on one end. It worked great.
You can get them at Radio Shack.

Dremal has a wire brush bit that works really well also.
It is a steel brush but it's also mild, but be carful in soft wood.
