Hi All,

Sorry in advance for what is probably a dumb question but since my CompuCarve has not yet arrived I’ve spent the last week reading the manuals and doing tutorials so i'll be ready when it gets here ;) . The one thing I still can’t figure out is the “Height” setting. I understand that “Depth” is the board thickness and that “height” controls how far from the bottom is carved. But I can’t figure out how to accurately determine how thick the carving will be based on the input of 100, 200, 300, etc for "height". Can someone please explain how it works or point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Mike

Hello Mike,

Welcome to the forum! I used the handy Search Feature in this forum and came up with the following links where Height/Depth relationship has been discussed...

http://www.carvewright.com/forum3/showthread.php?t=2564&highlight=height

http://www.carvewright.com/forum3/showthread.php?t=3282&highlight=height

Hope these are helpful for you.

Congrats on deciding to get a CC. I myself spent many hours here and reading the manual before I bought one. The height is relative I believe to how far the carved object, is from the top or un-carved surface. (lets use text for example) If you want the text to be flush with the top set for 100. If you want it set lower than the top then use a value lower than 100. Is it a percentage of the cut depth? I usually eyeball it in designer using the view rotate to get the effect I want. I am sure someone more familiar was the exact definition of the number vales.

Thanks Michael! This was very helpful. I tried the search earlier but did not have much luck (or did not read far enough i should say).

Thanks again,

Mike
