As some of you know, I use my CW machine less for 3D art carvings than I do for cutting out parts. The biggest project I'm on is building a 70% scale P-38 Lightning so that I can fly around and annoy everyone within range of my airport with my little plane.

On paper, the plane will do 300 knots, have a range that will get to Honolulu, HI from L.A. with a 3 hr. fuel reserve, carry two people, oxygen and plenty of luggage.

Right now, though, I'm still cutting out parts for the fiberglass molds.

Thankfully, at Chino Airport (KCNO) this year, the 50th anniversary of the Air Museum spotlighted the P-38. There's only three of them that fly regularly in the whole world.

...and they were all there. sigh...

Back to carvin'!

Your pal,
Meat.

Hey Meat, very cool project! You should pop over to the whats your expertise thread and tell us how you ended up in this endeavor you have going! It is really cool to see what everyone's background is. Your project is fascinating to me!

Meat, do you have a website that you are using for a progress log? I'd love to check it out and keep an eye on your project if you do...

I have several friends who are building planes that do that... it's interesting.

Here's one for example... my brother-in-law and I helped put up a shop for him... Click on "Workshop" to check it out.

I've been wanting to build a kit plane for several years now. I've been to Sun'N'Fun looking at them, and read Kitplanes magazine a bunch. I've been in love with RV8's ever since I first saw them, so I think that's would I'd like to build.

Good Luck!
